Tom has spent his whole life solving problems. Work. Technology. Kids. Money. Other people’s disasters. Things that need to be arranged, fixed, or decided. But every now and then, he needs to be someone else entirely. Raulíček. An adult baby who doesn’t have to be in charge of anything. Who can wear a diaper and pajamas, hold a stuffed animal, and let someone else take care of him for a while. Eva first enters his life as his caregiver. But roles have one inconvenient habit. Sometimes they stop being enough. Care begins to turn into closeness. Closeness into a relationship. And over time, they both discover that it isn’t really about who happens to be the adult and who the baby, who takes care of whom, or who lets themselves be cared for. It is about whether they can be whole in front of another person. Tom and Eva is a relationship novel filled with humor, tenderness, eroticism, diapers, stuffed animals, children, work, arguments, road trips, spreadsheets, several catastrophically bad definitions of normality, and one Lenka with an unfortunate talent for saying out loud exactly what everyone else is trying not to admit. This isn’t a story about people who don’t want to be adults. It’s a story about people who discover that they don’t have to be adults every minute of their lives.
